I've seen my mother this weekend, they asked if they could take a picture of the tomatoes. And quizzed the personal a bit, apparently they employ around 25 people daily and even more in the weekend. Besides fruit and vegetables there is a bakery, patissier, catering, traitteur, they make things like slow juices and salads. Would seem logic to use their tomatoes or fruits in the juices when they are going off.

Yes a lot of our food can be grown here, but somehow a lot is meant for export.
And yes commercial greenhouse gardening is big here and a lot of new technology is used. However it uses a lot of energy, fertilizers and pesticides to increase production and prolong the season in winter. These pesticides are increasingly forming a threat for clean drinking water.
