Marshall, I've had basil growing in the ground - all thru the summer.

Once.

It worked quite well, even without the fans on. The greenhouse was open day and night. Still, that constant dragging in the hose to water April talks about, that was quite a bit of bother. Also, it was dang hot in there! I mean, the basil doesn't do bad outdoors during those months!

You've got the program for year-around production. Nope. I considered it long and hard years ago. Just not going to turn on that furnace again until March of 2013, here in another week.

You can do it! Save those Tomatoes. Every trick in the book, use it!

Make some large insulated boxes to cover them with if needed, and make a firepit near the garden if necessary!

Heat up some good sized stones in your fireplace and use some kind of tongs and set them in the insulated box with the tomatoes...No holds barred!
