Thanks for the response, Lavender2 :clap - I am now quite certain WHY I'm getting so impatient!! :barnie I'm glad to hear that you didn't nock or soak, as I didn't either. :happy_flower

Ok, so how do you keep the mold from forming on the damp soil in the cookie containers? :hu

I've been growing vegetables all my life, but I'm still a newbie to flowers! :throw Thanks for everyone's great advice!

Lavender- that yellow is gorgeous!! Mine are peach and pretty, but they can't compare with that!!! I do like the devil, nitty. They are very easy to grow from seed and once they start blooming they are wonderful. One night I counted over 20 blossoms on a single plant. The scent is absolutely heavenly! If you grow them in containers, they are nice, but not large...

If the mold is slight and green I wouldn't be too concerned. I have had this occasionally and it does not seem to affect seeds/seedlings. If your soil is very wet you can open the containers for a bit and let the surface dry out just enough so it won't affect seeds from germinating.
To avoid this, it seems to help to use a soil-less mix and make it just moist, not wet.
After the seedlings emerge, water from the bottom and let the top soil dry out good, it usually goes away.

If the mold/fungus is white or brown, it could be a fungus that may cause damping off. I would move them away from other containers and try to identify the fungus.

Triple Yellow Datura ... this was one of those 'no way can it look like the pic' plants ... Ha ... it really does... and is easy to grow.
I deadheaded old blooms and they bloomed all summer for me.
Keep in mind tho, they can be mean little devils ... all parts are poisonous and some people have allergic reactions to touching the seed pods and plants. (like many other things I guess ...:/)
