It's a symbiotic relationship. The ants take care of the aphid poop (honeydew) and the aphids suck your plant to death.

They are putting our a fruit tree spray that is OMRI approved. It's just Canola oil! It smothers the bugs, but they warn not to get it on honeybees, as it kills them too. I'm going to try it out.

Is it the aphids that eat small holes in my plum tree leaves later on in the season?? And, do you have a name for the safe OMRI fruit tree spray that has Canola oil in it?? Or can I mix the Canola oil with water and use just that? Doesn't seem like oil and water would mix up quite right. hmmm
