Since our cuke crop has failed, petered out, dried up,quit werkin, aint makin cukes no more even, i was thinkin o' buyin some "market" cukes so's i can keep goin at this pickle makin stuff. Anywho, i found a local roadside type feller that says he'll sell me a full bushel o' picklin cukes, ( the littler ones) fer $22. My question is, does anyone have any inklin o' how many quarts o' pickles can come from a full bushle o' cukes ?
Thanx,Jim

How little are we talking here? My pickle cukes are the warty kind that get to be 5-6 inches long, and four of them packed very very tight make a quart for me, if I make reasonably large slices. You can shove more cukes in a bushel if you layer them neatly, less cukes if you just dump 'em in any old how.

Online Conversion says that 1 bushel = 37.24 quarts. Are there 149 cukes in your bushel?

I do a batch every time I get 8lbs. 4" cukes. That gets me between 7-9 pnts. I've never bought a cuke before, so I don't know about the price. Sorry.
