If you're in the mood for tall tales you might like this little story I wrote just for fun on the Paperback Swap site. (different user name) I called it "The Sour Mash Hog".

Wow great story, ya know same thing happened to me back in 64 in north west Arkansas, big ole pigs in those hills.

Way back when Arkansas and Oklahoma had the free range law and lots of people free ranged hogs. They notched the ears in certain patterns to identify the owners. A lot of them never got caught up so there are still plenty of wild hogs in the woods and swamps. It was a free range hog that started the Hatfield/McCoy feud.

Grandpa used to also tell the story about the hillside cattle he saw in West Virginia. He told it with such a straight face us kids almost believed him (almost was as close as anyone got to grandpas stories). Seems in West Virginia the hills were so steep that the only way they could graze cattle was to breed them with the legs on one side shorter than on the other. They could then graze sideways around the hill. If they tried to turn around they would fall over and roll down the hill. The trouble was that some folks bred them with the short legs on the left and others with the short legs on the right so they would graze around the hill in opposite directions. This worked out fine till a right handed cow met head on with a left handed cow. Neither one could move over to let the other one pass or they'd fall over. It almost started a feud till the preacher talked them into tossing a coin. The one that lost had to shoot his cow to let the other one by.
