I cut a Madrone today that had been infested last year with Caterpillers. (Luckily that kind only use Madrones). I will only be able to use one section to make a bed with, and it needs a lot of processing first. I think a split down the middle will get me 2 pieces, but it means further planting will wait a week or so, which is alright.

I have 4 stevia in a raised bed and I bought a "Sweet Leaf" from gurneys that arrived very toasted. I let them know if was crunchy when I got it and they sent me another one. The dead one - because I never throw anything away - just gave me some teeny tine leavs so I went ahead and planted it just in case. I tried theleaves onthe "dead" one and they were very nice.

I have grown Stevia for the flower-it reseeded for years and then one year it did not.
I thought you had to brew it like tea to get it's sweetness.
