I can imagine a Clapper in action around here. My DH sneezes so loud he shakes the windows. :hide

But Nyboy, I have a solution to your problem. Just do as my cousin did, about 60 years ago. He was a few years older than me, being raised by reluctant grandparents. He slept upstairs, a cavernous room with a single light bulb hanging from the ceiling, turned off with a chain pull. I was so impressed ( as a 7 year old) as he demonstrated he had tied a long string to the chain, looped the string under the foot bed rail, and up to the head rail where he tied it. When he was through reading comic books in bed at night, he had only to yank on the string to turn the light out.
It really didn't distract from the décor of the room. Haha!

When my husband and I were freshly wed we were at his folks house for some family gathering. All the brothers and their wives were in the living room.
The youngest brother was still a teen then. And single of course. But that has nothing to do with anything...

Anyway, he walked up to the TV and turned it on (manually by the knob). He stepped back a few feet as it warmed up, then just as the picture came in the set turned off.
He stepped forward again and turned it on, stepped back and the same thing happened.
A third time he did it and the same result. Now he's really puzzled and getting mad. The room erupted in laughter, #3 brother had been sitting in the back of the room, holding the remote and messing with him.
Oh, that was hilarious!

My Father (the jokester) figured out his T.V. remote will also work on my brothers television. So one day he walks over (they lived back to back) SIL is in her recliner, her back to the window, Dad's starts flipping channels, SIL gets real puzzled and keeps trying to return to her soap opera and the channels change again. Dad gave himself away when he started laughing loud enough to be heard. :)

Remember when only very expensive Tvs had remotes? Now almost everything has a remote ceiling fan, Tv, lights, even my car radio has a remote, not for back seat because that has its own control panel.
