....night time temps in the 40's. After checking the forcast, I decided to leave all the seedling outside, in the display table greenhouse. Went out to check on them, this morning, and all done very well, with the exception of the eggplant seedlings....which, it seems, have developed a case of the "droopy drawers". Have a very nice, sunny day forcasted for today, so am optimistic that they will perk back up.

Yep temps in the 40's are too low for eggplants, they sure are heat loving plants.

Just went out and checked on em...they have "hitched up their britches" and are standing tall. Trajedy averted....lesson learned.

Yeah be careful because if they are exposed to cool temp they may go ahead and grow but not produce and you won't know it until it happens. I tried them last year but they didn't make it. I harden them and everything was fine planted them in June so as to have no cold weather and then the next day they were gone. Completely eaten by something. I did have enough time to start over. Have decided if I was going to try again this year or not.

Thanks for the tip. I have Rossa Bianca Eggplant seedlings and I would hate to lose them to cold temps and I did'nt know they did'nt like cool weather, so they will stay inside awhile longer.

I read this last night, having just commented to my DH how great the eggplant seedlings were doing. Today while sleeping (I work nights), I had a nightmare that my plants ended up doing what you just described.

AAaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!:barnie

This, me thinks, is the first time I have experienced an Easy Garden induced Nightmare....:(

Is it ok to plant eggplants where I planted tomato's the year before? Normally I rotate peppers/tomato's. Hottest part of garden is where tomato's were last year.

I think they are from the same family group......so I would say no.
