Isn't that the whole theory behind Bonsai -- restricting the root system to keep the plant in miniature?

It is certainly working for the few veggie seedlings that are still awaiting a space in the garden. Mini pepper and kohlrabi plantlets.

I have yellow perennials like those, Nyboy. At least I had before Spouse and his weed-wacker spent some quality time together.

Red I am assuming they grew from bird seed, feeder right next to window box they grew in.
