There have been a couple TV specials lately, one on Yellowstone specifically, one on plate tectonics & volcanoes. I'm a natural science junky, I seldom miss those shows. :popThe bottom line is that while an eruption of the Yellowstone caldera would be catastrophic, there are no signs that point to imminent danger, and it is unlikely such an eruption will occur in our lifetimes... but it would pretty much destroy the U.S. as we know it if it did so. Probably even destroy my garden. :rolleyes: Better to worry about the active stratovolcanoes along the Pacific coast (such as Mt. St. Helens & Mt. Shasta) which are far more likely to cause problems in the future.

I grew up pretty close to Oak Ridge, Tennessee, a sure target. We did not bother to practice surviving an atomic bomb attack. I wonder why?
