Soooo cute! Who can resist a baby lamb!

Your property is wonderful. What kind of tractor you got there?

We only have 5 acres, the mountains you see in the backgrounds aren't ours. We only have a small, old riding lawn mower...:(

Sec,
you have 5 acres :)

that's about 5 acres more than what most people will ever have.

you have beautiful mountains to see from your 5 acres :)

you have a riding mower that's small. a 10 cubic foot wagon for the back of it will be an awesome addition for it :)

I'm getting at, you may not know it, but you are in heaven already. someone up there must really love you!!!

Nah, someone really likes to push my buttons up there.
Lost over 100 birds to predators, several very expensive rabbits to the fox/coons.
It ended up making me kind of indifferent to loosing any critter, really hate that. :(
So I went ahead and bought a LGD pup and then put up extensive and expensive electric fencing to keep loss to a minimum.
I swear, if a bear or large wild cat manages to trespass and/or kill, I am packing it up and leaving. I can't fight a bear/cougar!!

I know how to deal with the presence of either of those, not a grizzly though, and have lots of information and some experience with mountain lions and black bears.

Sure am glad you have that very special dog that cares for a lamb like it would it's own puppy.

A couple of those OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD air horns will frighten off the black bears. Never ever run from a mountain lion. that triggers its chase the prey instinct. every time. Never turn your back on it.

Secuono, I know how discouraging it can be. Trying to manage land without the 'right' equipment is tough. Trying to improve it is even tougher. But it is possible! And each hard won victory is just that much sweeter because you can look back and say "I DID THAT... in spite of the reasons that I couldn't!"
I have a little bit more land, but like you, the biggest piece of equipment on the property is a riding lawn mower. As a matter of fact... the ONLY equipment is the mower and a gas powered weedeater (and of course a few tools: saw, drill, etc). That guardian dog and electric fencing are going to be your best friend. I don't (yet) have any livestock, but the 3 mutts do a good job of letting the neighboring critters know that this space is occupied. We have everything from bears on down to possuums and so far all I've seen is a very few passers-by.

You have an amazing home - and a REALLY cute lamb. By the way, Maciej is unusual - why that as a name?

Haha, you shouldn't even run from a house cat!
If something is a bit off, we check it out with a gun in hand.

Maciej is a Polish name, had a friend years ago named that. I just needed a neat name starting with M and it was the only Polish one I knew, English names were all too boring and common. Sorry anyone with an M name. =p

Ah, sorry. Didn't know you had your real name in your username, most don't. =/
Starting to think I should name my new bird that.
