I was beginning to suspect it but now I'm sure. Boggy, you have chicken fever.

They are addicting. To be able to gather eggs (mine free range) that are fresh with dark orange yolks plus the fun of messin w/them is priceless.

Plus try crossing mutts with mutts and figure out what you'll get. Those genetics get messed up after just a couple of generations.

Watch a broody with her chicks. Plenty of entertainment value there.

And I eat mine. Wow!

I may not be as addicted as Boggy, but I do enjoy mine. I'm waiting to see what happens with the 18 chicken eggs and 4 turkey eggs I have in the incubator, due to hatch in two weeks.

I wish I had the space for chickens but I had to choose between them and rabbits and I chose rabbits as a better use of the limited space. Oh to be back where I have room to spread out and have both.

I raised them for 8 years.......kinda depends on how many you raise. LOL
I hatched and raised 2-3K a year....commercially.
They are a LOT of fun to raise, though they are SERIOUSLY addictive.
