I have 3 out 4 bareroot fruit trees that I bought and planted in January that have not leafed out. They still have green in their branches and trunk and are not brittle so I hate to yank them if they are still alive? Can they still be alive? if so, will they always be a problem tree? they are 2 peach and 1 nectarine. My other fruit trees have leaved and blossemed already!

If it makes you feel better, I planted some bare root fruit trees in March, only 1 has leaves. I know the others are alive so I'm still waiting. Go ahead and wait... they may wake up late since they were bare root. I was told they could take weeks longer then other trees because they are new plantings.

What do you lose by waiting? If you pulled them now, what would you put there?

I've learned with trees, especially the first year, the best thing is patience.

That does make me feel better, I have never had bare root trees before, always bought them "alive", so didn't know what to expect from them.

For it to be a proper bare root tree, and at its healthiest... it has to be dormant. So it not having leaves for awhile it good... its growing those all important roots! :D
