@aftermidnight our previous house had a tiny porch too. We could fit two wooden rockers on it, but our feet were in the flower bed.

I am already planning the flower bed in front of the porch. It will go all the way across the front about three feet wide. I'm going to make it a raised bed. I have a stack of catalogs that I am drooling over.

@Carol Dee I love to paint!! I would love to paint your porch......how about hot pink and purple?? :thumbsup
Fine by me ;) The house is white so it will show up nicely. LOL Dh may have other thoughts.

Russell, Timmy and Richard worked on the barn last weekend, we have FOUR! yep, FOUR rafters up now. Today, DH and I went to Lowes and ordered 2"x6"x20' lumber 29 of them, and 65 sheets of OSB plywood. 15 of the OSB plywood sheets will go on the sheep shed. It will be delivered tomorrow. We also went to another place and ordered roofing metal, it will be ready on Friday and we will go pick it up.

Russell and Timmy will be back this weekend and they have the whole week off. I have visions of a complete roof going up!

This picture doesn't show the rafters, but it shows progress from the last pictures I posted.

I have no idea how it got sideways, it was right side up in my computer. The tin is what we put up to keep the dirt from washing out when we had another crazy storm. It worked and only a little dirt washed out, but DH scooped it up with the tractor and put it back.

The contractor came back and installed the screens. We still need to finish staining the outside and the deck inside. The screens look dark from the outside, but on the inside looking out, it barely makes a difference.

AAARRRGGHHH!! What is going on? My pictures are right side up in my computer and upload here sideways. And I don't know how to turn them right side up. GRRRR...... that aggravates me.

I am shocked how you get Lowes to deliver next day, here its at least a week.
For our area, delivery is on Wednesday, which means that it would have been next week. We explained that we needed the lumber by Saturday because we had workmen coming, so the lady waiting on us got a manager's over ride and set us up for delivery. The lumber is now parked next to the barn, waiting on Saturday!

We now have a roof deck, covered with tar paper, on the barn!! :clap :celebrate :weee:woot

Metal roof sheets going on next!! :thumbsup

It is awesome to walk in the barn and realize that we are walking in the barn. The horses have been standing "in" their barn since it was just a dirt pile. It was so funny to look out the window and see them standing in the barn when it was nothing but telephone poles sticking up.

For now, it will just be a pole barn. Setting the telephone poles, building rafters, decking the roof and putting the metal on the roof was a job that we didn't want to tackle. I don't back down from much, but I've got sense enough to know when a project is bigger than what I can do. DH and I can put the walls up ourselves. At least the horses will have a shelter to get out of the weather.

I'll get pictures tomorrow.
