I cant believe you can already plow a garden. Its way to wet and cold in Tn. Sure pays to live further south.:)

So clay, sand and rocks aren’t dirt? That’s all we have. We don’t have the idiot dirt of Iowa/Illinois.

Technically, it's all soil. Not necessarily healthy soil, but soil indeed. If you can make it work for you I tip my hat .I desperately need pointers on clay. What are you able to get to thrive in that environment? My mama has a yard full of it. What's idiot dirt?

Idiot dirt is slang for any idiot can grow plants in this soil...

Also called monkey dirt-if you could train a monkey to drive a tractor, he could farm there.

Those of us in NE Indiana that work with clay, sand, gravel with terrible CEC’s, make fun of those with God given high CEC’s with fertility to burn (yes, we are jealous and question our family for settling in this challenged ground vs traveling west to the black ground.)
