I love corn. I wish I had room to grow it. Well, I do have room, we have a little over 5 acres, it's just hard for me to do traditional gardening. It would take a big ass raised bed to grow corn. Then I'd have to get a ladder to harvest it! LOL I do use a ladder to get my green beans. :)
The Painted Mountain corn only gets about 4-5’ tall. It tassels in 40 days, it’s a northern variety. It is for cornmeal.

Yes I did. I've just kept saving seed. It makes good cornbread.

I need to get back in my garden and plant more stuff. Good thing I had a booming garden last year and canned a lot of tomatoes, I sure don't have much this year! I have 2 areas of super weeds that was my mustard and turnip patches........

It was hot today! 103* heat index. I was sweatin like a dog at 7am this morning.

Cleaned out the poop tray in the coop and put out fresh sweet pdz. Checked the garden and pulled off a few yellowing tomato leaves. Picked my first tomato today! Yay! Also a couple more squash. I'll be picking green beans in the morning.

Spent a couple of hours cleaning up the onions and some of the garlic I pulled a few weeks ago. Still have some garlic to clean, but had to quit and come in for a break, it was 11 am already.

The Painted Mountain Corn is showing its first tassel. Planted May 15, only 29 days ago. Normally it is tasseled in 40 days.
