Bay, I'll admit that is worse than my garden in Arkansas ever got. Some years and certain parts of mine maybe not a lot worse, but worse. Once things get rolling you're faced with a decision every day. Do I pick and preserve fruit, berries, or veggies, butcher chickens, plant things that need planting, clean up a mess, a ewe is lambing, we got the grandkids, weed, mulch, the horse really needs to be ridden, or do something else that needs doing today. Then the rain sets in for a week or two and you really get behind. I never got as much of that Arkansas garden mulched as I wanted to, As much as mulching helps that was something I could put off until another day since something else had to be done then. So it never all got done. Every day is a new priority.

You don't get a lot of sympathy from me because you choose to try to do so much. I'm constantly impressed by your energy. And impressed by your honesty in posting these photos. I can understand why it gets that way.

I've been known to cut trails too so I could get to the garden, chickens, blackberries, blueberries. orchard, or wherever I needed to get to. The rest could be mowed when I had time.

I actually love the look of those weeds. But then there are deep cracks appearing in my lawn, which is on restricted watering, due to the drought, so my vision is skewed at bit.

My husband weed eated trails for me. I used lopper shears to cut the lambs quarters and ragweed off, piled in the wagon and threw it over the fence to the sheep.

We do the same weed management except ours go to the chickens.

I just finished mowing down the weeds in the pathways so we can actually walk on those lol.

This time of year the weeds do get out of control. I still like the pathways to be grass if I dont have enough mulch because bare diet turns in to either mud with too much rain or concrete with too much heat.

Will you be planting a fall garden?

@Ridgerunner you are absolutely correct. I do tend to pile things on myself. But at least I’m never bored. Might as well post pictures, it makes other people laugh or feel like they aren’t the only ones. I never get it all mulched. Rain did set in this year, thought it would never stop. I didn’t get much planted. Oh well, there’s always next year.

I have a garden philosophy; If I can part the weeds and pick something to eat, then I’m a winner!

@Cosmo spring garden im on the fence on a fall garden. Spring garden hasn’t been much and I’d have a lot of work to get it ready to plant. Maybe. Hahaha!

@flowerbug thanks for the compliment. It’s sorta sideways, I’m laughing. The sheep appreciate all that good soil when I toss them the weeds.

@Carol Dee it just gets too danged hot to go fight the weeds when they have already taken over.
