I just checked. It is well over 1,000 miles to the nearest point on the Cornell University Cardinal range map. Maybe, on the wing, a Cardinal could make it a little shorter.

There was a Robin going past the cabbage and broccoli, Friday. There is some damage suggesting caterpillars (I'll have to hit that with the Spinosad or BT this week). I thought, "Hey, maybe he will check out those plants!" Nope, he just kept on traveling, looking at the ground ...

Wow! That sounds awesome! I don't think we have cardinals down here, but I'd love to see one some day.

beautiful birdies with cheerful songs (and very loud too at times when you might be wanting to try to sleep in). they've been here every year as they like the northern hedge where the honeysuckle trees/bushes and some other berry bushes are at. once in a while one will come up and perch in the white pine tree that is right next to the house and sing (it makes him sound bigger with the accoustics), but they don't nest in that tree.
