Cousin Covid took a hike and took Queen Quarantine with him. I’m done. It’s been a gorgeous sunny day. I stayed outside all day. I walked fences, looking to see what I need to do. They are a mess.

This is the front fence at the road.

This is yaupon, it’s pretty in winter. Evergreen, the green leaves flare and make a good fire starter. The leaves also have caffeine and dried, make a decent tea.

2 guys came today to cut up a downed tree for firewood. They will sell it, I’m real happy about that, been wondering how I was going to get that enormous tree gone.

Note the fence line in the background. There are 21 timber sized pine trees in the fence line that have to come down. Also a lot of brush, saplings and several dead pines.

No. It’s not enough for loggers to fool with. Those woods aren’t mine. It’s just cutting the trees in front of ( on my side) of the fence and on the fence line. Loggers show up with large equipment and 20 trees aren’t worth moving the equipment for.

Got any ideas?

Depends where I live, which isn't far from @seedcorn, There are two companies that will harvest and pay the owner for their trees and they MUST be hardwoods. Supply chains for lumbar have been off and on.'
I was hoping to entice one of them an hour away to come to our town and take down the 30+ ft tall trees in our town that are threatening homes.
Negotiations and communication takes time. I will let you know if an successful.

I’m open to spraying the fence rows and keeping them sprayed to keep them clean. I have friends that are horrified at me, but they aren’t out here with a chainsaw and machete, so they can go pound dirt. And I’ll be double dog damned if I’m going to sink a fortune in this expensive sheep and goat wire, up from $240 in February 2022, to $420 in September 2022, per 330’ roll, and the sky is the limit. Nope. Ain’t happening. I’ve been told that overgrown mess at the road is a good thing because it gives me privacy. Hang the privacy! I want it CLEANED UP! And it will STAY that way. Also been told to put up new fence then plant hedge roses on it. Ummm…. My sheep EAT roses! Go back to clean fence idea.

Sheep would eat the grape vines. I’ll plant grapes, but not where the sheep can eat them.
