That was yesterday! I forgot to press post reply! LOL
Little white lamb survived the night and has a bottle of colostrum this morning. I have therapy at 7:30 this morning and I’ll put her with Frimplepants before I leave. She needs the outside exercise.

Tomorrow she will start on milk. She will also go to her new family. We are going to splint her legs tomorrow. I can almost get one to straighten but it bows back crooked. Her momma wouldn’t take her back this morning. I wasn’t surprised. Ewes know which baby is theirs. How? The ewes sniff the baby’s butt. They know by smell that is THEIR milk coming out that end! The colostrum I bought and fed the lamb obviously did not smell like mom’s milk coming out the other end, so Frimplepants butted her away. The lamb cried and tried to suck, and got butted away hard for her efforts.

I left the lamb outside all day. She has done a lot of walking, good exercise for her. I bottle fed her in the pen.

Another set of twins arrived last night. Gotta go do evening chores now. I’ll post pictures after while!

Ewenique had twins last night. The black one is a ewe and the white one is a ram. Ewenique is the last of my first sheep and is 9 years old. She is an excellent mother and I’m really happy to have a ewe lamb from her.

The ram lamb has floppy feet. They are bent forward at the pastern or ankle, all 4 feet. It’s not bad, I gave him Bo-Se and Nutradrench for sheep. His front knees are slightly bent, but he’s on his feet(or ankles) and sucking. He’s eating, he’s not as bouncy as his sister but these sort of things generally correct themselves in a few weeks.

I ran ewes through the chute today. I’m beat. I took fecal samples for testing for worms. I trimmed feet. They don’t like their feet messed with. I pick up a foot and the ewe starts kicking for all she’s worth. I hang on until she isn’t kicking as hard, push her up against the side of the chute and trim excess hoof material away. Yeah, fun. Back is sore from being bent over. I wormed a few that were coughing from lung worms. I’ll worm them again in 10 days.

I sorted out 7 ewes to put with Cooper the new ram. I have one more to put with him, but she has an abscess on her shoulder. I’ll have to Lance it, squeeze the gunk out, clean it and fill with hydrogen peroxide followed by betadine. A few days to heal up and she’ll go across the driveway to meet her new Baby Daddy!

Cooper is so excited to have all these beautiful ladies!

In our drought of 2011, many trees died. We had 2 months of 100 degree heat, no rain. It was sad, driving along and seeing all the brown dead trees.

These are already damaged, they didn’t stand a chance. I’ll be planting some more trees. I’m thinking sycamore and redbud and dogwood.
Oh I love dogwood! Magnolia trees are amazingly beautiful too!

Little lamb is awake and got her first big girl bottle of milk formula this morning. She peed on Carson’s towel, then pooped in the floor. All is in good working order!

Carson desperately wants to play with her or maybe eat her, she does resemble a rabbit! He has excitedly licked her. I admonished him, “You can taste but no bites!”

Getting daylight. I’ll put her outside, feed and go to therapy.
