I had a funeral to go to this morning an hour away. I managed to get him fed twice. Same scenario, halter, tied up, sitting in mud, both feet pushing her against the wall. One hand on halter, one hand on her back leg so she couldn’t kick him off. Fought me like a tiger. After the second feeding I had 15 minutes to shower, get dressed and gone.
Got back, pouring rain, went out to get the little guy some milk. He baa’s at me now, he knows he’s gonna eat! I put the halter on her, put the lamb up to her udder and Granny didn’t fight me so hard. I’ll feed him again in a little bit.
Sounds like "Granny" will end the season with a new name, "mutton."
Just Not worth it.
I know that in the show/racing horse world breeders always have mares on standby to adopt/nurse foals rejected by their dams, bc it happens.
Sorry she is being so troublesome!!!
I don’t want to bottle feed him because I spend more on milk than he is worth. Plus being tied down to a tight schedule. So I’ve been looking up head gates and I think it’s time I built one. I have to ponder on this.
