I got those 10 chickens processed and cut meat off the bones of a couple and made pan sausage. I cooked down the bones, wing tips, skin, and back pieces in the crockpot for a couple of days until the big leg bones crumbled. Tossed in some leftover rice and the dogs love it over their kibble.

My Anatolians love chicken. I cooked down some feral hog scrap meat for them and the third day they walked away from it. Nope. It ain’t chicken!

How long did it take for the bones to crumble?!?!?:caf
I haven't seen that and you KNOW I torture my crock pots making broth!!!
About 2-3 days. I had some back pieces in the mix and it’s like they melted away. When the leg bone pieces break easily, it’s done. I don’t know about making it into broth, it’s kinda overcooked. But you can try and report back here! LOL Dogs sure love it!

Yesterday I dug up some thistles. I hate those things! I’ve got lots of them. Last year I cut off the blooms and seed heads and threw them away.

I spray the big fat roots with a vinegar solution. Hopefully it works

1 gallon white vinegar
1 1/2 cups salt
2 tablespoons Dawn dishwashing liquid

I filled the back of the mule, but now what do I do with the awful things? I need to chop more! They are making blooms.

the best thing you can do is keep cutting them off right at the ground level. if you have a weed wacker with a metal blade you can do it a lot easier than most other methods.

what i did the past few years for a bad infestation (that wasn't even on our property) is set the mower at the level of the ground and run over them each time i mowed. i was scraping dirt, but it really worked well over the next few years as it kept them from setting more seeds and it did also took away their energy giving them less and less energy to spread their roots.

last year that field finally got turned and tilled and rototilled in spots, but all the thistles will still be there because they didn't control them at all when they abandoned the field for a few years. instead what the did is mow it with a brush hog and spread those seeds all over the place. it's going to be a mess. i already know it... i've talked to the landowner several times plus the guy who mowed them and spread all those seeds around (and i've been having to get them all out of all our gardens and rocks ever since :( )...
