When I shattered my knee cap by tripping over my McNab Border Collie, I was in a cast and a wheel chair for three months. When it was time for PT, OMG. Pain but it was progress pain. Lots of progress and lots of pain.

I took the Oxy for two to three days after the patella reconstruction, and then stashed them. Wine worked well. After the cast, didn't need anything but patience and the drive to get strong again.

I woke up from a nap yesterday afternoon to see the yard gate open, Cooper the ram and Dessa missing. I ran, or hobbled at a fast drag-limp, with no walker in a panic. Cooper was at Ringo's pen, both were ramming each other through the fence. I limp-dragged myself to the feed, got some in a coffee can and shook it. Cooper wouldn't give up the fight until he saw Dessa eating, then ran over to hog it all for himself. Chris had forgot to chain the gate and Cooper pushed it open.

In the process I hurt my knee and was in agony all night. Lots of Arnicare pills, rubs and a sleeping pill. 3 hours of the massage on the adjustable bed running and somewhere in there I finally went to sleep. Doing Arnicare pills and rub, ice pack, foot elevated, bored. I pushed the big walker out to the sheep lot and petted the dogs. Talked to sheep, came back in. Still bored.

One year I tacked up my mare for DD's friend (first My friend, former riding student,) to ride at my yearly party. I didn't secure the gate and next day the ponies were out!
Never again!!
I know it's a PITA but you will need to double check EVERYTHING, even if it means irritating Chris about double and triple checking gates. DH and I always bug each other about gates, outside water faucet (off???...for Sure???), and even EVA, (my Germand Shepherd, for the newbies here,) bc I left her outside one night last Spring. She sat by the door waiting patiently, not Quite sure why she was left out, but she didn't wander. You can still talk ok, and he will forgive you the nagging.

Please be careful. You could set your recovery back if you overdo it. I know how much you hate the walker, but it may save you some agony later. Maybe keep it near door so you are not tempted to run out without it even in a panic. Good thing Cooper is selfish about food. ;) Take care, ask for help when needed. Again, wish I was close enough to help out.

Do you have, or could somebody buy you 2 knee braces? I have one, and you adjust and tighten with velcro. It takes the pressure OFF of your knee and makes the muscles above and below carry the load.
I have the cheaper one, but I really like This one.

Baymule... I feel your pain :hugsas I have had severe arthritis in both of my ancles as well as my back for years. I have used all of the recomonudations posted here as well as many prescriptions from doctors and well as advice from my brother who was a pharmacist working at a major university ( now retired. ) with minimal success at best. Then, my doctor recommended that I try using CBD oil and go to a store that sells it and talk to a KNOWLEDGEABLE store owner at leangth regarding your symtoms, experiences, needs, etc.. I whent to 5 differndent stores and were recommended different products. These worked to an extent... but no real cigar. Then I found a store in our town whose owner is very knowlegable so we talked for a few hours. I opted for gummies 30 mg CBD oil Healthy root brand + 1800 mg CBD oil, cooling mint sports cream, Level 3 brand. After 2 weeks of use I felt VERY much better and pain is gone. I have graduated from bed ridden, to a walker with seat, to using crutches, to actually WALKING on my own without aids for up to several yards . At this rate, i expect to walk a block without any aids within 2 weeks. I do NOT say to use these concentrations or brands, but find a store owner that is VERY knowlegable and expect to try different concentrations of CBD oil that actually WORKS for YOU. :old

I took my walker out to pet my Anatolians through the fence. I can’t go in the lot, either dogs or sheep will bump my knee. I decided to walk to the mailbox. Driveway is about 1/8 mile. I didn’t get far before discovering I had an escort!

Aren’t they pretty! They belong to the previous owners and graze the front pasture. I get to watch Cow TV and have my own personal escort!

The last couple of days and nights have been miserable. It felt good to be able to go for a walk. I stopped and sat down several times. Nice walk.

Not having a regular TV (by choice). Yep I agree wholeheartedly. Cow TV is awesome and relaxing. Beautiful Brahma herd 👍. You weren't carrying a bucket by chance we're you?

I'm glad you appear to be of good spirit. I have faith that soon your be the Texas🌪️and back in the saddle again.

Jesus is Lord and Christ 🙏❤️🇺🇸
