She is just perfect. They don't make 'em any cuter than that. :love Somehow I don't think you'll get much done on the farm today. :p Nope, cuddling should be on the top of your priority list.

Your DH looks pretty cute with his new chainsaw too. (Don't want him to feel left out. LOL)

BRIARS!!!!!! AARGH!!!!!!
It seems every square inch of this place has greenbriars in it. Here is a pic of just one tangle that is over 9 feet tall. There is no way to get through that except for a bush hog or machete. This is what we are dealing with!

Here is a picture of briar roots and bulbs in the burn pile. We did this twice! The garden is only 50'x70'........and we have 8 acres!
Now that I am starting to plant the garden, I am digging up MORE!

Are these the same as smilax? The roots look very similar, and the vines have thorns also.

I dug up some huge monster tubers when we bought this place. I took pics of them and asked on another garden site for plant ID. Nasty tubey critters eh? :barnie

Important stuff first: that little one is precious. Yup, being a grandma -- life doesn't get any better than that. Sort of makes me wish for another little one like that, only neither of my children are open to fulfilling my wish.

All the little stuff: that there's a lot of work been done! Even with your beautiful Kubota ya'll have done lots of work. Having cleared land a couple of times, I know what you're going through. Not with those briars, however! We have had blackberry, black raspberry, gooseberry, or wild roses to grub out along with gobs of black locust thorns to get through, but we could always see to the other side.

You are going to be able to sit back and enjoy that 8 acres some day. It won't be this year, but it will come. For that, you are one lucky gal. I won't be wasting any of my time envying you till then, though. You have one humongous task on your hands, my dear friend.
