There are Kentucky Wonder and Blue Lake pole beans and bush beans. They will cross pollinate as well. I think there is a variety named Kentucky Blue that is a cross between these two. If your teepees cross pollinate each other you might invent a new bean- the Kentucky Blue Snake bean!

My goodness, I needed a good laugh. :D

I was worried about cross pollination with my grandmothers bean. That's why I wanted to do the teepee's in my yard to keep them away from her beans, which are antique. Our houses are about 1000 yards away from each other.

Has anyone done the bean TeePee in a small raised bed garden. I always struggle to keep my beans controlled and it seems that the TP would take up too much valuable space in a small garden.

If you have young kids you can space the poles of a teepee far enough apart and make it tall enough for kids to get inside. It makes a great "secret" hiding place for them. Just leave them an open spot for a doorway.
