Could you tell if it was young? The young ones have eyes that seem larger and blacker. I am just musing , wondering if it can be trained and tamed down.

probably young and raised in an aviary with many others. if they were hand raised they are much better with training. not many people do that and sell to pet shops. explains why my last parakeet was so tame, she was hand raised by an older lady who had lots of birds but took her time to socialize them while young. previous birds came from pet shop back when they were still allowed to take from wild. took longer time with the 'wild' ones to tame them. kept radio on with those and made sure to keep bedroom door closed when working with them.

also learned to whistle to them and that may have helped calm them some.

Odds are the leg band was from an import station. It would have a code on it identifying the station and a few other things, but not the age. Imported birds are often caught in the wild so it's nearly impossible to determine their age with any accuracy.
