Black Squirrels

never seen the black squirrels but plenty of greys &they are more a nuance right now than the reds. my dad remembers the reds used to outnumber them at some point in my neighborhood growing up but not anymore.

We have gray squirrels, we call them cat squirrels, and we have red squirrels that we call fox squirrels. Both are tasty, but they don't have a lot of meat to 'em. My grandmother would fry the heads. I never could get past the empty eye sockets and teeth to ever eat one, but she cracked their heads open and ate the brains.

I don't know why this makes me want to giggle...
Anyway, that is just awesome!

I think squirrels are cute. While in college, we had a hole in house we lived in and a squirrel would come in while we ate. Friendly little guy. (I know it was a guy because he was polite and not bossy at all.)

There used to be a lot of black squirrels around Jack creek and Knopper's Ford area but people have just about hunted them out. They were good size squirrel so much coveted by people that like eating squirrel.
