Investigation Confirms BLM Illegally Sold Federally Protected Wild Horses for Slaughter
BLM Employee Who Sold Horses Given “Monetary Awards”
Washington, DC (October 23, 2015)…. The Interior Department Office of Inspector General (OIG) today released a report confirming that between 2009-2012 the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) sold 1,794 federally-protected wild horses to a Colorado rancher and noted horse slaughter proponent, Tom Davis, who sold them to slaughter. The sale of the horses for slaughter violated BLM policy and a Congressional ban.

The report reveals that the agency continued to sell horses to Davis even after receiving information that he was sending horses to slaughter. The employee who sold the horses to Davis received performance-based “monetary awards” based on the number of horses she sold or adopted out.

The majority of the so called "mustangs" or "wild horses" are feral horses set loose into the wild to fend for themselves by folks that could not feed or care for them due to a huge increase in feed costs and then further burdened by the bleeding hearts had a law passed to stop horse slaughter in the US. So , one has to send them to Mexico or Canada for slaughter or turn them loose for others to suffer monetary and property dammage. ( I know as this happened to me personally . See my posts on this matter ). No, I refuse to use my hard earned federal tax dollars to pay to house, feed, Veterinary care, and any other costs for feral horses. Why don't these bleeding hearts step up to the plate and PAY FOR THESE POOR " FEDERALLY PROTECTED WILD HORSES " themselves ????
