I don't use Yahoo News very often, BUT, TONIGHT is the Blood Moon. Geeky Astronomers are calling this the Pi Day Blood Moon bc its starts at midnight on the EAST COAST. Everywhere else, it is beginning tonight, March 13th.
The whole event takes about 3 hours and it is magnificent!
(locally)Look SE tonight starting at 11PM, complete eclipse about 12:30AM (Pi Day), then fading around 1:30AM.
The rest of the world should adjust for time zones.
There is NO chance of harming your eyesight. Last Blood Moon that was easy to see happened during the Tetrad (next post) at 6:30 in the morning. Locals driving in to work had NO IDEA what they were looking at! I even read that yesterday morning there was a brief sunrise Blood Moon. This is a timeline for OHIO, btw.

"The cosmic moment will repeat on September 7, 2025, with an 82-minute "blood moon" that will be visible over Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia. That's two weeks before the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, which is a time of prayer and repentance."

"The last time a tetrad took place was from 2014-2015, and all four of those eclipses landed directly on Jewish holidays, coming as the world endured the shocking and horrific rise of ISIS, the highly controversial Iran nuclear deal, and the previous Israeli war with Hamas. "
"In each of these blood moons, you have something that begins in tragedy and ends in triumph," Hagee said. "
AMEN!!

It was Marvelous! I watched it while sitting on my side door steps and looking through the bare branches of a maple tree. DD watched, too. Last time we watched from behind the garage at 3AM, and Freezing!! 🥶
Last night it was 55 degrees F. OH, and the frogs were singing.
Here is her Facebook post:
"(Ducks) helped wake me up to see the eclipse! I was too tired to venture outdoors, but, I was lucky enough to be able to watch it from my bed! I snagged a couple shots, that doesn't do it justice, but, still I love these things!

i fell asleep early, but i'm glad you got some viewing in. :)

the moon was really bright the past few nights here - i commented to Mom that it was bright enough that at first i thought it was snow yet i already knew it wasn't supposed to get that cold out there and no storm warning either.

I saw it from my bedroom window. This was also the "worm moon" so named because this is the time of year when earthworms emerge from the ground, attracting flocks of robins. (One news person once remarked,"They could have named it the robin moon, but no, they settled on worm moon!")
I did see lots of worms on the pavement yesterday and didn't really think about it. Maybe they were trying to get back to the mother ship - the worm moon!
