You guys are always filled with the BEST information!

I had done Kentuky pole beans, and hated them and went back to the blue lake. I only do pole... exception being the drying beans I do the bush.

So happy with these type only so far. I planted 60+ this past spring and got a decent haul. Those damn soy bugs we have around here got them this year though... luckily late in the season and I got a bunch of good harvests first.

Now offer to save a couple hundred seed for next year. :D

Thank you!

As already correctly mentioned, Blue Lake pole beans are a non hybrid variety.

I read that Blue Lake pole beans were recently named the best eating green bean, but that in the process of 'taming' them into a bush bean, most of the flavor was lost. I guess I'm adding Blue Lake pole beans to my garden next year and skipping my BL bush variety.

Love, Smart Red
I'm switching from BL bush to BL pole this year myself Red. Hoping it will save some of the strain on my back from all the stooping. I'm just hoping the production is similar. I love the bush variety so if most of the flavor was lost, I can't wait to try the poles!

I like blue lake BUSH beans. Mainly because I am lazy. BUT they really are quite prolific.

Tomatoes are the extent of staking on this farm!
