Ok.. started collecting my seeds for this year :celebrate ... so far I have:

Pepper - California Wonder
Spinach/Mustard Tender Greens
Cantelope
Cucumbers
Iceburg Lettuce
Carrots (shorty carrots)
Sugar Baby Watermelons

now I have to order the rest...I'm so excited!!!!

I understand the seed collecting term. I have made two trips for seeds and still need more.

I have bought:

Corn 3 types
cucumbers pickling and long
radishes
collards
lettuce
pole beans
shellie beans
butter beans
onions
peanuts
brussel sprout plants
brocilli plants
butternut squash
zuchini
carrots
sugar snap peas


Still need
Blackeyed peas
spinach
tomatoes - will buy plants
peppers will buy plants
watermelon
pumpkins

some herbs and flowers for companion planting

I bet once you saw Gone 2 Seed's list you starting thinking you need more... I know I did! :lol:

Your RIGHT I surely did.. :rolleyes: :D I'm sitting here with my notes in hand figuring out what I still have to order and what more I can add now that I saved a bundle getting those seeds locally...

I still have on my list
celery
corn
potatoes
spaghetti squash
tomatoes for sandwiches
roma tomatoes for sauce
white onions
and Sunflowers...

and I think I'm going to add:
sweet potatoes
broccoli

gotta love spring!

alright... I hope this place isn't like BYC.. because already I started out small and now I've expanded!!! This is going to be addictive like chickens I KNOW IT!!!

Anyway.. I placed my orders... I only still have to find celery & buy some onions.. here's what I'm planting this year:

Spinach/Mustard Greens

Green Beans (first time planting this)
Cauliflower (first time planting this)
Broccoli
Tomatoes
Corn Bi-Color
Corn Yellow
Carrots (first time planting this)
Green Peppers
Iceburg Lettuce

Spaghetti Squash (first time planting this)
Sweet Potatoes (first time planting this)

Parsnips (first time planting this)
Peanuts (first time planting this)
Leeks (first time planting this)

lots of first for me this year... I'm going to start small.. working on my plan now and putting it on the calendar so I have little to think about on the fly!

I planted spaghetti squash one yr & we did not care too much for it. Luckily there were some people in my church who did & I would take bags of it each week to church for people to take. It was very prolific for me.

I have a massive seed collection that I just keep adding to when I find good deals.

Thanks for the tip... we're hot & slightly humid here so I'm wondering if it'll grow well here too. We eat maybe 4 spaghetti squash each year due to affordability.. I'd like one or two per month.

We have a farmers market to hopefully unload extras on, and of course co-workers & friends as well as our poultry & canines too.

You just wait.... soon you'll have a greenhouse in every corner of your yard and you'll be growing year round in all weather.

That sounds awesome! If I do well this year I will be converting part of the back porch to greenhouse for winter...
yep.. addictive to have your own home grown food for two entire season for under $100!!! well.. and A LOT OF HARD WORK
