Today I bought my mother in law a braided Hibiscus. It's pretty nice. I'm wondering how big they get? I mean it isn't gonna be a monster is it? I'm thinking about getting me a few of them. Do I have to plant them near the house?? Or will they be strong enough to not need a wind break?? Thank you!

Sorry, I never heard of a braided hibiscus. I have several hibiscus planted ( mallow) around either the beds or borders around my house and they get a couple of feet tall and bushy, nothing monster like though.
As for windbreaks I had never thought about it.
I don't have them up against the house or anything but a couple are a few feet from a fence and some are several feet away from the house.
They are pretty sturdy though, the stems get woody by the end of the season.

Okay, just went and checked on the internet and apparently what you are referring to is a tree so I was way off.

One website states they can grow up to 15 feet, another explains that you have to train it to grow in the braided fashion or it will just go straight, I am not sure if you already knew that or not but there is a ton of info about them online.
Someone else may have better information for you.
Good luck.

I take it you mean the trunks were braided together as they grew? Those are normally trained as "trees" so that the braided trunk will show as a decorative feature. If trained into tree form it will get slightly taller than a bush but hardly a monster.
