I've gotta try something for my digitS'. I mean, something other than a life of Riley, gloves if'n I even see a tool, and nail polish.

One thumbnail breaks (splits) on a regular basis for about the last 4 or 5 years. Now, a finger is joining it with this problem. There is little excuse in November.

I remember that Mom returned to drinking milk when broken nails became a problem. She had joined lactose-intolerant Dad by not buying milk. She changed her habits and claimed it made a lot of difference.

I probably carry too many of the wrong, paternal genes. I still eat cheese and yogurt, figuring the bacterial cultures take care of some of that lactose, changing it to lactic acid. DW must think I should always have yogurt because she never lets me run out ... of her favorite brand ;). Maybe, I'll just add to that, and subtract more often from that supply :).

Well, skimmed milk has about 8 grams of milk protein (might be what I need). Low fat yogurt has 11 - 13 grams! Greek yogurt has 18 grams of protein! Yay! I don't suppose that a teaspoon of apricot jam is gonna decrease that too much, right?

Excuse me. I gotta find the polish and do my nails ...

I wish I could find plain Greek yoghurt or any kind of of yoghurt with 23 grams of protein. (I'm trying to gain weight). The best I found so far is 15g.

Mom swore cod liver (fish) oil tablets are good for hair and nails. Maybe try that?

Not to question you but are you sure that is right? Usually greek yogurt has around 14 grams of protein. Maybe it's a brand I've never heard of.

Can't help you with your nail problems. I have the opposite problem. Have to trim them every week. Or perhaps it's just that I don't like long nails.

All are per 8 oz. cup

The Propagandists: California Dairy Council

I cut that fingernail so short, I broke the skin under it. Of course, I couldn't cut the entire split off so I'm still catching it on things. It's a little like a static electric shock (only worse) when I do.

No. I can't cut my nails any shorter. They break in spite of my efforts :\.

Shoot.

Just that I haven't had cod liver oil since I was a kid ... and Mom would hold my nose, pry my head back, and force it down my throat.

Steve

In addition to proper nutrition, you can do this:
1. Take 1/2 glassful vegetable oil, a little warm up it, add 1/2 glassful beer and 1 tsp lemon juice. Mix everything and put your hands in the mix. Hold for 20 minutes. Then touch hands with a napkin and gently massage your cuticles. After the mask hands are not wet for 2 hours. If you do a mask 4-5 times a week - a month later you will see the difference.

2. Only the polish.
When brittle nails is recommended to do a 10-minute bath of vegetable oil, mixed with apple cider vinegar in equal proportions.

Ahh, that makes sense. Most yogurt containers are 5.3 oz. It's weird how they used the 8oz. as a guide.
