Oops. Size before they produce? My sunshine blue produced about a quart the first crop after planting. It was 4" tall when I planted it in January 03 and I took off all the flowers that year. It was at its full height of 3' by April 04. It produces about two quarts a year, but it is not one of the large Northern Highbush ones most folks grow.
So your sushine blue starting getting flowers at 4"?

No, but it did put a dozen+ or so flowers on around March/ April that first year. I planted it in mid winter. January is when all the deciduous fruit trees, grapes, and berries are for sale around here. I can't remember the growth rate over the year, sorry.

My neighbor planted one last year in April. She took the flowers off at planting and it was about 8" tall at that time. It was in a nursery pot prior to planting. It grew about a foot over the year. Hers is disturbed by other planting around the base. It is not as vigorous as it would be if it was undistrubed. They are shallow rooted.

I ran across the street and took a pic. She planted it by a drippy hose to help with the moisture requirement.

Thanks for clearing that up, so it looks like they can bloom at a small size. I was just thinking if it would be worth it to pay more money for a Jumbo plant thats about 2 ft then a regular one thats 1 to 1.5 feet. I'm not looking for any berries this year when i plant but what a harvest ready for next year. Thanks for running over to take a shot of that picture,i appreciate it!! Your neighbor has a beautiful blueberry bush, looks great!! Yeah like you said it would be bigger or more vigorous if their wasnt a lot of competition.

Thanks Again!!
