Yeah, Marshall I'll take it! Do you suppose you could make it a few miles bigger and have it delivered for tomorrow?

Steve! Your thunderstorm just arrived!

According to the old adage, if you see enough blue sky to make a Dutchman a pair of britches, the clouds will soon be gone. Always looking to see how I'd run the pattern for sewing them.

I just finished up a 25 pound bag of rice, it lasted a long time. Gotta go get another one. And I have (less than-been eating it) a 50# bag of quinoa, 50# wheat, 25# sugar. When I go for more rice, I'll get a big bag of pinto beans too! I like milling the wheat and baking bread-it's so good! I buy loss-leaders meat, limit 2 packages with $10 purchase. I go through one line and DH goes through another line. We stock up the freezer like that. ;) We have t-bones, hamburger, pork chops, beef roast, pork roast, chicken and sausage.

I bet they can't include the grasshoppers when they sell it retail, Bay' ;)!

What got me thinking about all this was a lady on TV saying she couldn't have a healthy diet with oranges at $1 each. ~ shudder ~ I'm determined to at least try to have a healthy diet and make good use of the garden produce.

No grasshoppers! And produce has gotten ridiculous at the stores! I am with you Steve, gotta grow our own food to not only have a good diet, but to be able to afford to eat! There is no way that we could eat what we do if I weren't growing it!

Grasshoppers are probably the least of all worries considering the things they are putting in commercial breads these days! I have a grainmill too, and i LOVE it!
I did restaurant work off and on for years during the off season when I was training horses for a living. There isn't much that grosses me out, but people do, so I can totally understand Thistle drinking out of a horse trought and not taking a potato chip out of a community bowl :sick

I put bay leaves in my rice and with my wheat berries and never had any bugs. Not sure if they work or if we are just lucky.

I am so blessed to live outside Eugene. Eugene is like a natural food Mecca. We have vegetarian options on almost every menu in town (i'm NOT veg) and even vegan options most places. While most towns I visit have small "natural" foods sections, every store here has one. And there is a natural food store around every corner. As a result we have wonderful dry goods bins. Specialty flours, exotic grains, noodles and rices of all kinds are in abundance.

Needless to say my cupboard from Grandma is bursting at the seams. Hubby and I are planning our new pantry to be built that will houser the dehydrator, larder, and cheese making area!

That probably says it all !

I notice that the results of restaurant inspections are now going online. I've known people who acted like paying those fines was just a part of doing business. Once a year, if they were lucky.
