I really want to plant Calla Lilies in one of my new flower beds. I had some bulbs from some old ones and I took them to dry them out but now they look crazy and I think that I destroyed them. I live in Arizona and I am wondering If I purchase bulbs when should I plant them and when will they bloom?

Do they feel hollow? If they are fairly solid, I would go ahead and plant them- what is the worst thing that could happen? Don't know when they would bloom in Arizona- sorry...

We have to be careful with callas here in San Diego. They can spread and take over the garden in no time. They like us too much.

They are not hollow so I think I am going to plant them and see what happens. I have them in a separate garden bed by themselves. :D

I am such a busy and SLOPPY gardener. I cleaned up the patch that is north of my garage and east of the walk, so that my 3 red generaiums could get some light. I pulled out all of the crabgrass, and sawgrass, and one or two other weeds, they dug out a space for the 8 coleus plants that had been sitting in their pots there for ...ahem...2-3 weeks--good thing it's shady and moist there.
I had forgotten about the potted purple calla lillies that I left there, too...ahem...ahem...a..hem... one month ago......
They look great! What do you think--should I put the four into some nice pots so that I can move them inside for the winter?
