#3 looks like the super freaks on page 6 of the Jung's catalog. I am jealous that your chickens will eat the pumpkins when you put them out. I have to puree the pumpkins for my spoiled chicks.
I'm there w/ you, I read all these posts of people chickens loving pumpkin, mine will eat it reluctantly if I chop it in the food processor and mix it w/ other stuff.
ya'll have some seriously spoiled chickens
my chickens will eat anything that doesn't eat them first.after thanksgiving,i placed the turkey carcass in there and the next morning there was just a skeleton left.i also do the deer ribs during hunting season.it gives them protein and something to work at.i just hope i never pass out in there,:sick

i hope to plant as much food as i can for them next year.trying to get a list so i'll have something all year.also read that the pumpkinseeds are a natural dewormer so thats good.
Mine eat most everything I put in so far the only two things they have raised a fuss about have been okra and pumpkin, and pumpkin they will eat if it is chopped up, but okra they flat out refused no matter what I did to it. But I probably couldn't argue the point that they are spoiled, though not as much as some, they aren't house chickens, but they are still getting garden greens, and I raise bugs for them to eat. I'm thinking if they didn't have the other stuff they like so much still they wouldn't be so fussy about the pumpkin.

Mine will gobble up the pumpkin as long as it is pureed. We give our girls pumpkin seeds once a week and they haven't had worms--yet. They also get diatomaceous (sp?) earth mixed in their food every week or so.

i also use DE in their nest boxes and mine shouldn't have any worms right now since i have been feeding pumpkins weekly since the first week in NOV.

We do have heated hen houses. Very spoiled chicks.
how sweet for your chickens.
i have a 10ft x 6ft coop that i am putting in a ceiling fan this summer.with the 100 degree heat for weeks at a time,i have box fans already.i have lost 1 chicken each year due to the heat.for me that is 2 too many.
it doesn't get your kind of cold here, but sometimes i think i would like the cold much better.
