Anyone have a good resource for straight sided canning jars. I've always used ball, but I can't get a label on any of them. I'd like something smooth to easily attach a label.

All suggestions welcome!!!! Thanks

I've had similar issues with labeling my jars and now will use a sharpie pen to name & date the food on the metal flat lid since it has to be replaced every time anyway. Although it's not much room and I usually have to write it in shorthand to fit.

I don't know if they make the smooth jars anymore, but I have found some of these older jars at thrift stores & yard sales. Just be sure to check the jars carefully for any nicks or cracks that would interfere with a good seal or possibly broken jar later. Especially around the rim and threads.

Labelling is SUCH a pain to remove that I stopped using them. Now, I have a extra fine point Sharpie at the ready, and I label my lids--you know the once use sealing part? I write the name of the fruit/vegetable, and today's full date. I write month, day and year because then I'll know the year from other cans put up that day, just in the case that the year gets smudged. Ball has come up with a seal with only the logo, no lines, and lots of space to write on.
Have you considered making labels that fit the lid on your printer? You could slap it on when the food has cooled. Just a thought. :D
