When it comes to car service and repair I get very intimated because I know nothing. I have to believe what they tell me. Seed lots of $$$$ more and more people and business moving out of state

Yes, I remember the tax increase that drove Rush (and many others, I suspect) out of the state a few years back. Just the cost of housing would be formidable, IMHO.

And the [then] governor quipped, "If I knew it would get Limbaugh to leave New York I would have raised taxes a long time ago". When the rich leave, who is left to pay the bills?

Could be wrong but cabin filters are a fairly new addition.

Back when she was in college my wife took an "Auto Mechanics for Non-Mechanics" type course and even got college credit for it. She learned a lot more than just how to change oil or a flat tire. If you are really interested you might check around and see if a local college, 2 or 4 year, offers something like that. I'm still the one to take the cars in for most things. As a woman she is often not treated right, even when she knows very well what the problem is.

@seedcorn I agree with you, they are pretty new, at least as standard in a lot of models. Maybe some luxury cars had them a while back, but I'm really sure most didn't.

It would be good if all who drove at least had a working knowledge of basic car info. As far as fixing cars. The automotive industry have employed very smart engineers who have made better motors, increased milage and made it impossible to work on them without computers/special tools.

Except for Nyboy's truck, that is true. With computers testing the car it is nearly impossible to do any of the work yourself anymore.

Ever notice the computers generate as many "problems" as possible while working to the real fault?
