Can't wait to see it all finished.
What'cha going to do with the pop door??? Surely you can come up with some creative 'reason' to have a pop door in the tack room?

I like the barn red it looks very charming. All those windows will give it a lot of light. I think either way on the interior would have been fine. But I'm like you. I would have painted the inside if the look of all of the wood didn't match. It would have bothered me. haha

I don't have any idea. Dh offered to close it permanently, but I said no. Can you think of anything? Maybe ventilation when it gets hot...

It's pretty little, only about 4x5, so it's not like I'll be spending a lot of time sitting around in there looking at the walls, but yeah, the old and new wood made my ocd flare up, haha.

I'd be tempted to try and figure out a way to rig up some sort of 2 sided cooler or something. Quick access to cold drinks - or carrots & apples... :)

This spring we have done some downsizing and rearranging in the back. I will have less hens, so we built a smaller coop and pen (I built the pen, sweet husband built the coop).

The former chicken coop is now my tack room and I wanted to paint the inside before installing my saddle and other gear.
It's been bugging me that it hasn't been finished, so yesterday I just tossed my list of things for Saturdays chores, grabbed the paint and got-r-dun!

Before-

My friend thought I should leave the interior wood plain because it's old recycled redwood decking and looks like old barn wood.
But even though it's been washed and bleached it still has that faint chicken poo essence. I opted for a good coat of paint.

In the process-

I think it looks much better. This paint color is called Morning Canter Through The Mountain Mist.

Not really, I just made that up. I think it's really called Gray.

But I surprised myself with how quickly I got it painted. Just need to clean the window glass where I was a little careless with slopping it around. Next week I'll give the outside a fresh coat of red, put my bridle hangers up and move all my goodies in. :)

i like the side entrance for the days when you're too sore from riding so you can crawl in and out. :)

Aww Flowerbug, that's so nice that you picture me so slender and agile that I could -
A: fit through that door
and - B actually crawl through without getting a charley horse and getting stuck half in half out!
