I'm not sure where to post this but here goes.
we're looking for sour pie cherries I know it's early but getting a head start.LOL
We live in Ok.
When living in Colo. we had our own cherry tree and got lots of cherries from it made lots of pies
and froze a lot. DH loves cherry pies!!!
Wondering if anyone knows where I can buy them either canned or frozen unsweetened?
We've looked high and low for them here.
We planted our own tree here but it will be years before it produces!!!!
Thank you.

My local supermarket has both canned and frozen ( I love cherries) Canned are very expensive $6.99 a can. I tried many many times with many many varieties, all dead !!!!!!!

There is a nursery close by that has cherry trees and I am going to plant a couple this year. Texas is so hot, but I guess these varieties can take the heat. I hope you find frozen cherries!

I buy tart cherries in cans from the grocery store. No sweetener, just cherries. It takes two cans to make a 9" pie. And yes, they are expensive. The brand I find is North something, I think. Northland maybe. The canned cherry pie filling is full of cornstarch and sugar. Yucky.

I can find tart and sweet frozen cherries at Costco. At the regular market too, but they're so much more expensive there.

Bay, I think you can grow tart cherries in your zone.

Thanks folks.
I'll look in Sam's club. We don't have Costco.

We have one tree growing 2 yr. old. I did get about6 cherries last yr. but the cardinals
got them!!!
We'll be dead before they get big enough to produce enough cherries for a pie!!
The Montercery (MS) cherry trees do well in Co. and in Ok so far.

Yesterday a client knowing how much I love cherries, dropped off a bag. She was so happy when she saw "fresh" cherries for sale. I don't know what market she got them from. When I looked at the cherries they where dark red, but didn't look plump. I tasted one no taste, put bag in breakroom. A few hours later kennelboy showed me hs tongue, it was stained dark red. The cherries where treated with some kind of fod ccoloring.
