BYC is where I started, back in 2011. I have learned much since then. But I doubt I can have chickens at the new place. The lot is just not large enough, to support anything but a flower garden.

I can't have them here either. Moving to be close to the grandkids is worth it, but there are trade-offs.

I miss my chickens. Don’t miss trying to keep them out of garden, off of porch, predators out of their pen or house, and lastly getting someone to take care of them when we were gone for a few days.

That last one especially. When I found someone I could trust they'd graduate from high school or, if older, just move. It was a constant fight.

one reason i like keeping worms. you can go away for a few weeks and they won't notice as long as the house stays above freezing or doesn't burn down they'll be fine...
