I don't decorate. Too much work and expense and too little return.

I've decided to do 2 things this year:

1. Find an Alpine Fir like we had when the "Kid" was small and there was little room in the house for a tree that is nearly as wide as it is tall. The narrowness of the Alpine Fir doesn't appeal to DW and that has meant that we haven't had ANY tree since DD moved out and left of as empty-nesters, years ago. The traditional place for the tree is in front of our living room window so that it adds a little to the holiday cheer in the neighborhood without me climbing on a ladder and stringing lights again - ancient history (just like me ;)). But, with a wider tree, I have to move the Lazy-boy from it's sacred location beside the window . . .

2. Make a "coloring book" outline of the picture below: I thought it made such a pretty Christmas card a couple of years ago. Anyway, it is so simple that 3 colors (& shades) of paint are all that are necessary to fill in. With a dozen or so alternating with the same size paper snow flakes (don't we all know how to make those :p), I can string garlands around the living room.

There . . . maybe that will be sufficient decorating to bring some cheer to DD's holiday and brighten things for the Olde Folks, as well!!

Steve :)

I like to get my tree the day after Thanksgiving usually, but my dh is very busy deer hunting today, so I will wait until Sunday when I go into town.

I will probably haul out the box of things tomorrow and go through it. I would like to get something new this year. Maybe go with a different color scheme.

Other than pine window swags outside on my sunroom windows (faces the road), I don't usually put up lights, but I am considering it this year since my MIL just brought me a huge box full of very nice large-bulbed lights.

I love Christmas and I love the cozy, happy feeling of all the scents and decorations. I can't wait to get my tree up and do a little decorating. I hate to spend a lot of money on it, and I enjoy foraging the woods for greenery, pine cones and vines to use. That to me is almost as much fun as the rite of picking out a fresh tree every year.

I just picked up 3 sets of lights for my Teepee.

I think it will look cool as a huge tree!
That's great you'll get year-round use out of it. Double-duty. Good thinking! :)

My Christmas decorations consist of this in the form of a large banner across the top of my windshield and in the back window of my Jeep.
