I am really proud of the dogs for trying so hard. I opened the gate to the meatie pen, but Bruno would lay right in there with the chicks, of his own volition, trying to keep them safe. Now that they are confined in a smaller area and protected, he still checks on them everyday but has gone back to staying with his little flock of sheep so Cletapotumus can be the front-yard-potato clown he likes to be. If finances allow, I will do another batch of meaties this summer as I had plans to part a lot of chicken out and also to can a few for quick meals and casseroles.
