Good Morning. For some reason, I am inclined to dream of music before waking to meet the day. This morning, the dream was garden-related.

I was with a group of gardeners celebrating the accomplishments of this one guy. Apparently, his success was generating a farmers' market following that was just springing in the community. Melons were his current success :D.

As the dream was ending, the gardener incongruously began to sing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight." Of course, I joined in ... 🤣 ... and, promptly woke myself up.

That sometimes happens to me. Last "night" (actually between 7:00 and 9:00 AM this morning) I dreamt that I was seeing a review of all the old children's programs I had seen as a child and forgotten, and that had a few songs I knew (mostly TV cartoon themes, I remember the Heathcliff one.)

Then there was the dream where I was sitting in my sister's bedroom (no idea why) and listening to very good original songs I had never heard before. Drove me CRAZY when I woke up and couldn't clearly remember any of them, since most would have probably been hits (or not, since they were all 1950's-60's style music).

I was reading recently that some people feel that it is emotionally healthy to pay more attention to our dreams.

Well, I'm sure Freud would agree.

Anyway, the author said that she keeps a journal and, at first, especially, had trouble remembering her dreams. She would write down the first thing she thought of in the morning. In time, she became better at remembering.

My first thought this morning might have been, "what the heck am I doing??" I'd be able to answer that question this time. However, I might have still been left with a few questions.

Don't think that would work for me. For one, I wake up a LOT each night, so we'd be talking about writing things down seven or eight times a night. Each of which would involve turning on the light, picking up the diary and pen, writing whatever down, putting it back, turning off the light again and trying to go back to sleep. Plus, I usually can't read my own writing anyway, so it would be pointless. Maybe might work with a Dictaphone, but most of a dream will have faded before I could get that out either. Not to mention that, generally, my first thought upon waking up is usually EXACTLY the same, namely "I need to go to the bathroom, RIGHT NOW." (even with my blood sugar controlled, the sheer amount of water I drink before bed to get my pills down means I need to pee a lot.)

DH swears that he can change the course of his dreams.
I hardly reMEMBER my dreams...when I have them.

yes, lucid dreaming, it can be a learned skill, there is a brain state between being fully asleep and not dreaming, dream states and then lucid dreaming can happen in between there and being fully awake.

at times i wake up exhausted because i've been lucid dreaming for an extended period of time. dipping in and out of fully dreaming state, back to lucid dreaming, then eventually hitting a spot where i get frustrated and then too logical and trying to reason things out which engages the higher functions of the brain which is what is happening when you're awake. if you are lucky you can sometimes go back to sleep and pick up dreams where they've left off. which is not quite so lucky if it is a nightmare. but that has happened to me too. trying to go back to sleep, waking up, going back to sleep, waking up, three or more times trying to break out of a nightmare.

writing down dreams when you wake up is a great way to remember them.

To clarify,

the author was talking about "first thoughts."

If the dream wasn't remember, it was the first thing that came to mind, regardless. Might be - too much sunlight! Dang dog. Does that guy ever NOT snore while sleeping?

I’ll get another coat of paint on the doors today. Working hard at getting house ready to move into. Took up a lot of plastic yesterday. Plastic is still on floors, that will be the last to come up. Getting closer! Have a friend to help Saturday and we will start moving stuff. Guess I’d better clean the stock trailer. LOL

Good Morning. Diced peaches in the bowl, peanut and original Chex on top, honeydew melon on the side. Finishing the Oolong, now it's time for the herbs :).

Back to the passionfruit and having that with anise hyssop this morning is a different cup of tea. Have I tried this before? May have too many dried cranberries in there, sweet! Better leave the leaves of the new lemon verbena alone for awhile. The plant had some trouble growing early and I want it to last as many years as the previous one did. Leave the leaves -- should check the linguists' thoughts on the etymology of those words. What is left on the ground after the first frost, tree leaves. The recent hailstorm sure left a lot of tree leaves on the ground in the big garden's neighborhood.

Back out there soon. We have record heat this week. Relief isn't in sight in the short term. We are now losing 3 minutes of sunlight each 24 hours, at this Earth location. That will make a difference at some point in time ;).

Wow, well I can take a deep breath and maybe drink some coffee or do some gardening. DD FINALLY had her baby. I guess he is almost 2 weeks late. He weighs ELEVEN POUNDS AND 2 OZ. WHAT THE HECK??? 22.5 inches long and 15 inch head and she said this was the easiest delivery but the worst pregnancy in how she handled it all, but both healthy He was born last night. Said he did not cry and was happy and just looking around awhile before crying. I think DD knows who he looks like. We have not talked about it. I said he would have light colored hair that later turns dark like DH. She looks like her dad a lot. I am not posting this picture on Facebook or anywhere any of son-in-law's family can see because the do want him to look like his daddy. He will be bigger and taller than DH that is for sure, but here is a picture of DH older than a baby, but does anybody here think they look anything alike or am I
