Temps low26F, high41F. Sunny day , snuck outside did some pasture runs cleared out brush and low hanging branches, working on building a fence using tree trimmings to keep the deer back around the perimeter of the woods next door.

I make three different flavors of vanilla. Madagascar ( the one in the the stores mostly), Tahitian and Mexican. Use different ones for different recipes. I use a vodka base for all. I enjoy the different flavors and can use the beans after the vanilla gone as either vanilla sugar or grind and use in recipes.

thank you, that is what i'm generally finding out is that vodka is close to everclear and much cheaper. $12 will get us plenty of budget vodka.

Breakfast this morning was 2 coffees with heavy cream, Belgium waffles with butter and strawberry sauce gifted to me from a dear friend, and bacon on the side. Yummy!

Today's sourdough baking, again there is some progress (my baking skill). One dough turns out to become a round loaf, 18 bread buns with toppings, and a tray of Focaccia.

The round loaf was sold before baking, the roasted (and seasoned with salt) potato brought some little joy while eating.

Nothing fancy, just good quality ingredients and patience.

Also like an art, isn't it? This dough created 18 bread buns

The bread buns were used for a brunch party and shared with neighbors; and the Focaccia (no photo) was used on a farewell dinner for dear friends who will leave for US two weeks later for fulfilling a 18-Month job contract.

Breakfast this morning is 2 coffees with cream and an omelette with grn onions, sweet peppers, bacon pieces, broccoli bits, and shredded cheese. I'll start planning second breakfast in a few minutes.......just kiddin!

Coffee with raisin bran for breakfast. Got up earlier and ate some yogurt bc I had to take some aspirin--didn't want to get nauseous.
Btw, Middle DD told me yesterday that Her recipe for vanilla infusion calls for Jack Daniels, and that I can periodically Add some Jack Daniels to this infusion.

hooch doesn't much appeal to me these days but as a kid i'd drink about anything. with vanilla extracts i'd like as little interference from the hooch as possible as that seems to make the whole point of making it go away. if you wanted vanilla flavored hooch just go get some cheap vanillin and use that instead of wasting a lot of money on something you might not even be able to taste.

it's like people who smoke using scented soaps. you don't notice them most of the time and if they are strong enough of a smell that you do notice them then it's probably pretty hideous...

if you've ever met someone with Dragon's Breath you know what i mean. rotting teeth, coffee, cigarettes, etc. you stand as far away from them as you can and figure the wind.

OK, I Cook with cheapo wine, does the quality of the vodka make any difference?

Use the cheapest vodka. works fine

Get my beans from Beanilla. They are higher than some but always have big plump beans.
