I once saw a heated suit in a Cabela's catalog meant for outdoor wear. It had a huge battery pack on the back, and covered your entire body head to toe! Whenever it's super cold I always wish for one so I can be comfy outside in any weather! You should have seen how cool it looked! Lol!

[Gardening with Rabbits]

Two nights ago, I put the hot water bottle at the foot of my bed, hours before I climbed under the covers. The water bottle was taken out first.

Nice & comfortable and those earlier moments seem to be when my feet (& the bed) seem to be the coldest. I'd intended to do that again last night. (No, I really don't like electric blankets. Find the seat heater in the car uncomfortable.) Forgot about it! There's no question, I should get myself in the habit and have done so in other Winters.

It's still below zero F and approaching noon. I've been shocking myself on 2 different light switches ... so far. This weather is taxing (enervating? gets on the nerves?) -- even indoors. A few extra creature comforts should be welcome.

We put a pot of water on the woodstove. DS and I both were getting chapped hands and lips and static electricity in our hair. I should have put it on earlier but forgot about it. I have a heavy crocheted blanket I use in the recliner and yesterday I used 2 of those blankets, but this year is the first year I have not put an electric blanket ion my bed. I always have a sheet, a blanket, a comforter and another heavy crocheted blanket on top of that plus the electric blanket, but this year I have been fine without the electric blanket and I think it is from all the vitamins and my thyroid working better. I also think we are burning better wood this year and our house is warmer, but I agree, this weather is getting on nerves even indoors.

 

[Gardening with Rabbits]

We made it through the worst of it and the rabbits were fine. Snowing again and going to be high in the teens and warmer tomorrow and then next week a heatwave of 40s!

 

[Rhodie Ranch]

Ice ice baby. Sheets of ice. I5 closed in Portland this morning. 84 closed also (goes west to east). I can't even walk outside cus its slick baby. Chickens are on their own for now.

DD's family in Miami. Their flight from Ft Lauderdale to Seattle today delayed by 4.5 hours. Their flight from SEATAC to Portland cancelled. They hopefully get into SEATAC tomorrow morning at 2 a.m. (but mom kinda doubts it....its still a mess out there for all flights).

Businesses and county offices closed here. Nobody can drive anymore and unless you put chains on, your FWD or AWD will not help driving on solid ice slick roads.

kinda like if a tree falls in the woods and nobody hears it did it happen? well sure, but ... since i don't know what post you might be talking about i can't do much other than lay here and think about a tree in the woods and how i'd likely want to be curled up in a snow fort tonight if i were anywhere near the woods outside.

an old habit from childhood was no matter where i went i always noted good hiding spots and ways out.
