Happy New Year! We have a little snow trying to cover the ground. Cold in my office here. It is about 30 outside. I am drinking my coffee, got the fire going, and I have a cat on my lap. He is hoping I get the house warm for him. lol I better go put some more wood on. I hope 2025 will be a good year for all of us here.

Coffee is ready. After watching this, I think I need to go get a bottle of whiskey.

The best part of this oncoming big freeze is that I’m meeting my DD and her husband to pick up the little granddaughters on the 10th when storm strikes. And keep them through the 19th. DD and DSIL are going to Spain. I’ll have the girls and their 2 dogs for this snow and ice storm. Looking forward to no power, no water because I’ll cut it off to prevent pipes from freezing and busting. I can hunker down just fine on my own, but this won’t be any fun for the girls. No fun for sheep, dogs and me. Draw up water, got full propane tank and heater, so can stay warm. But I’ll be trudging through the ice and snow, carrying buckets of boiling water to sheep. Gonna go get some alfalfa and pine shavings.

Phooey on this. I don’t need this crap.

Everything seems to be bigger in TX! I hope the bigness carries over to the bestness :hugs.

Of course, there is joke ;). A blind guy arrives in Texas and walks into a resort bar near the airport ... he says, "I hear that everything is bigger in Texas. Give me a beer and some peanuts." The bartender brings him a 1/2 gallon mug of beer and a bucket of peanuts.

"Wow. This is wonderful! Everything is bigger!" says the blind customer. After awhile, he asks the bartender where he can find the restroom. "First door on the left down the hall," bartender says.

The customer makes a mistake and goes in the door on the right. It's the resort's indoor swimming pool. He walks to the edge and falls in.

Struggling back to the surface, he hears the door open again as someone approaches. Panicking he yells.

"Don't Flush!"

Yup, it's winter. The crazy thing is that so far, it's been worse South of me than it is here. Wisconsin seems to be in a safe zone, at least for now. Brought in a lot of fire wood this year & have plenty of gas for the generator in case that changes. Hunker down, @baymule , praying that you & yours stay safe. 🙏

Need dry air to jump 32⁰ between morning lows and afternoon highs — none of that 3" of rain in 24 hours, not even 1/2", @baymule !

Grape nuts with raisins ... one way to get grapes in Grape Nuts. Thought about that jar of "crunchy" peanut butter but a spoonful of that will have to wait until full senility sets in ...

Persimmons. That's reaching an end-of-season date but quite a few have been purchased over the recent weeks. Fruit "starvation" months are right around the corner. Just not much of a fan of canned or frozen veggies or fruit. It's okay. Dried fruit, too. Guess I really should be migrating between Tasmania and Montana bi-annually with my plant starts on the ship deck during the trip.

Oh well, on to herbal tea. Homemade bread from New Year's Day dinner for a scrambled eggs sandwich as a second breakfast. Checking out some purchased dandelion root tea with lunch ... wonder what I can stir up for that meal. Chicken soup? Still have celeriac – brown rice ordered. Why don't we ever have potatoes or pearled barley in chicken soup? Lentils? Split peas? Just might swing for the bleachers Friday at noon ;).

Coffee is ready! I’ve finished 3 cups this morning and fixing to get outside and see what I can get into.
Check to see if any ewes have lambed
Give bottle to Spot
Feed sheep
Back truck in front field and unload pallets
And that’s for starters.
Son is leaving this morning to go back to west Texas for work.

Finishing up 2nd cup of coffee at the computer. :caf
Yesterday I had a physically taxing PT session, but G said I was doing an excellent job!
I guess the bar is low, with age considerations. Still, G and R (other PT) are rooting for me.
They both know that I will get a surgery date for my left knee on Tuesday, and then they will set up pre op PT for my Left knee.
(I am now writing like Dickens!)
Funny, my old printer is not hooked up to print but making "I will print now" noises.
Sounds a lot like the Expedition Files that we watched last night about a mid 19th century photographer who photographed ghosts with client photos. The one inexplicable one was the Mary Todd Lincoln with ghost photo:

The only plausible explanations for the other photos was partial glass plate exposures, then reusing them.
I had yogurt, then a slice of leftover pot roast in a sandwich, which I shared with Eva, and ate with today's coffee.
