Here, with no outside critters: it's 14⁰f (-19⁰C). No problem. Checked date in 2024, it was 7⁰f, record is -11⁰f. Colder weather usually comes earlier.

Snow only where sublimation hasn't carried it off. Kinda funny that snow compacted where I walked on it is still there — so my footprints remain in the yard 👣 :). Winter problems are somewhere else ...

Dreaming this morning that I was doing laundry for a sports team. Suddenly, I am blinded by bright light! I'm thinking, "what does all this light have to do with that big pile of uniforms and towels and a washing machine?!"

Woke up to the lady across the road running her car and headlights in the driveway across the road. 4:30 ...

@Gardening with Rabbits Sounds like a well thought out plan. What a nice family project. I have a Greenhouse 24 x 24’. It’s not that big but you’d be surprised all the seedlings I can start in a heated greenhouse with three tiers of shelves.
Congrats on the up coming birth of twins. 🥳 you’ll have your hands full then…
I am not sure how big the one is I use in the kitchen, but I put 3 trays on a shelf and I think there are 4 shelves and then outside, my greenhouse on the patio is plastic, with shelves, but you can walk in. It is not heated, so when really cold I have to bring things back in. A heated greenhouse would be wonderful and I may expand to that one of these days. Thank you for the congratulations on the twins and yes, I am going to really be busy. I think my 2-year-old grandson is going to be the handful. The girls are 6 and 4 now and no problem, but keeping up with this boy wears me out. lol

@Gardening with Rabbits twin babies! What a blessing. Over our many years on this forum, we have shared a lot with our friends here. I’m delighted for you. You are an awesome grandma and these twins will keep you on your toes! It will take you, DD and any help y’all can drag to the garden, to raise a good crop this year. What a beautiful life. You are blessed.
I really do feel blessed and for sure DD and her husband are! The twins are girls, so they will have 4 girls and a boy. lol The garden is going to be real iffy, but I think I can do it. DD is getting around okay right now. She is 26 weeks right now. At some point I will be going to her house more and more and after they are born, I am just not sure what kind of schedule I will have. She probably can have a small garden in her yard too. Thank you again!

Coffee is ready! It is cold in Texas! Snow has the Gulf coast shut down. Houston freeways are empty. Sure enough a pileup of three 18 wheelers is on a long overpass just south of Houston. Looks like I got a little snow, but the bulk of the storm stayed south of me. I’ve set 2 pots of water to boil on the stove. I’ll go out soon to bust ice in the sheep’s water buckets and then come in and pour up the boiling water in 5 gallons buckets to melt ice for the sheep. I can’t carry a full bucket but I can carry 2, half full. Then I’ll be dipping ice and water out of the big black tub outside to bring in to heat up. I’ll carry boiling water this morning and again this evening.
That is just crazy to hear about Texas and ice. I will not complain I had a little ice on my rabbit's water dish this morning.

I got up and had coffee and fed the rabbit and cat. I had breakfast and sold 2 things on Etsy and got them packaged up and out to the mailbox.

I have been looking at galvanized raised beds. I can order on Amazon and have delivered the next day. Has screws to put them together. DS said he would build some out of wood for me and DD's husband said he would build some for me, but he is so busy and he needs to make some for DD. Has anybody used them? DD said she does not want them because it would like like a farm in her backyard. I read that it helps keep slugs out. Maybe have DS build a couple out of wood and then I just buy the metal ones as I need. Are they any good? Should i just stay with wood?
